Design and installation of basement guardrails and handrails around the Newman Building on Belfield Campus.
The existing guardrails did not comply with Part K of the Building Regulations.
The area around the Newman Building basement is susceptible to the congregation of large crowds. Consequently the guardrails were designed for C5 loading in accordance with Eurocode 1.
The existing cappings were removed to enable direct fixing to the RC retaining wall below and new replacement wall cappings were fitted between the guardrail uprights.
